As a bit of a car nut, I like to read Autoblog for all the latest car news. Well, this morning, I found this post about the new Merc C63 AMG (pictured above). This is a pretty impressive looking car, and Autoblog are touting it as an M3 killer, but, look at the power details:

The C63 has a 6.3l V8 with 451BHP and 443 lb-ft torques. O-60 in 4.5 seconds. the M3, on the other hand, has a V8, and produces 420BHP and 295 lb-ft torques. ok, so looking at that the C63 has more power and torques, but, its also got a LOT bigger engine: 2.3l bigger. the M3 “Only” has a 4l engine (well, 3999cc). That extra 2.3l that Merc has added only gives the C63 an extra 31bhp and some more torque. Considering my car is a 2.5l, and produces 170BHP, Why the hell is the Merc not hitting 600+hp? how can BMW produce 100bhp per liter (420 out of the 4l M3 and 507 out of the 5l M5 and M6) and Merc cant? Hmm…
